Stages of bison painting

Katfish: 20×30 acrylic
Stage 1: Underpainting
Here are the stages of my bison painting over the course of five weeks.
A critique from my teacher Lisa: Love the light, muted washy tones of her underpainting. This is such a great example of an underpainting.

Stage 2: Middle Phase
Then, she adds more layers, some more pure color, thicker paint to the piece and it begins to come alive. Again, just enough for the “middle phase” of the painting process. I can’t wait to see this week’s iteration.

Stage 3: Final Touches
Viola! I’m done adding the finishing touches.
