R.I.P. Jeanne-Claude

My tribute to The Gates project in Central Park, Jeanne-Claude and Christo.
Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon, June 13, 1935-Nov. 18, 2009

When in D.C….

… who does my hubby rub elbows with? The environmental artists’ Christo & Jeanne-Claude. It must be the redhair that attracts him. Their next project “Over The River” will suspend horizontally a total of 5.9 miles high above the Arkansas River along a 40-mile stretch between Salida and Canon City in Southwest Colorado. It will be on display for two weeks as soon as the summer of 2012. I’m looking forward to seeing this one in person.

Jeanne Claude and Christo were thrilled to have a fan recognize them in the bowels of D.C. 😉

Above is my illustration a tribute to their Gates project which took place in Central Park in 2005.

Spring Palette

More playing with the tools in CS4, using a compound path (no, this isn’t new but I just don’t use it often enough) on my shoe. I like the results and how it gave me a screen print effect. I might just have to print one on my own tee.

Still Life

Digital illustration created from my still life sketch posted below under Saturday Sketching.

I have to admit I’m becoming a bit obsessed with carrying a sketchbook with me. I’m noticing this cycle of using ideas from my sketchbook and morphing them into something new. It’s been useful in giving me a starting point for other experimenting.

Color Palette

I’m liking the blues and orangey peaches in this illustration. I have to believe Spring is on my mind.

More playing in Illustrator.

Experimental Freedom

Workin’ the new Illustrator CS4. I thought I’d play around with different patterns and filters. Perhaps I was inspired by the Swiss after watching the movie Helvetica last night. Interesting flick if you’re in the design field.
